However wever, there is a rumor that the money used for the celebration of his wedding was siphoned cash that was supposed to be used to pay the producer who produced Iyanya’s single ‘Gift’.

According to udrmedia, Ubi who allegedly collected advance payments from MTN, MTECH Limited and MCOMM for the song, never paid Blaq Jerzy, who wrote and produced the song.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Tuesday said the Nigerian Army would soon deploy special forces to Kogi to help tackle crime in the state.

Buratai disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Yahaya Bello at the Government House in Lokoja. The army chief said plans were at an advanced stage to deploy the troops to the affected areas in the state. “I want to assure you that very soon we will deploy special forces to the state. “That is why I came here with the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison; he is getting them ready and by Monday they should be on ground. “They will come with their vehicles, they will come with their sustenance, so very soon they will come in and begin the operation,” Buratai said. He, however, assured the people of the state of the army’s commitment to tackling the security challenge. Buratai also commended the efforts of other security agencies in the state in checking insecurity. Responding, Bello decried the rising cases of kidnapping and armed banditry in some parts of the state. He said the situation was deteriorating as new cases of kidnapping were being reported on a daily basis. Bello solicited the support of the Federal Government to help rid the state of criminals. “With the support of the military and other security agencies in the state, the security situation in the state improved tremendously. ” But the situation has changed, recently new cases are reported on a daily basis and this is frustrating. “It is so bad that some travellers who hitherto pass through the state have started running away from the state. ” That is why we are soliciting the assistance of the Federal Government to help us with equipment and the force to clear the hills and forest where they are hiding,” he said. He said the state government had adopted measures to improve the situation in the state. Bello said the state government recently launched a security awareness campaign known as “ Operation Know Your Neighbour.’’ He emphasised the need for citizens to be conscious of happenings around them. Bello added that all buildings linked to any kidnap kingpin would be demolished. Buratai was on a working visit to army formations in the state

Current hard times will make Nigerians act right, says Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the current economic downturn in Nigeria would surely make the people act right, assuring that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency would ensure that the Nigerian people benefit from the resources of the nation.

Osinbajo spoke during a courtesy call on him by the Australian Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary, African Branch, Mr. Mathew Neuhaus who was accompanied by the country’s High Commissioner in Nigeria, Mr. Paul Lehmann. “it is a difficult time, but we think it is an excellent opportunity to do right by the people so that our people are able to get the benefit of the nation’s resources,” he said. He however noted that the presidency was making appreciable effects in the areas of security, governance, anti-corruption and the economy. According to him, there had been a liberalization of the oil and gas’ downstream sector and that the flexible foreign exchange policy recently put in place would encourage foreign investment adding that “we are looking forward to the benefits of the new foreign exchange policy.” Commending the Australian government for its “excellent support,” in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast, the Vice President observed that while significant progress had been recorded by the military in downgrading Boko Haram, the challenge now was overcoming the ideology that motivated terrorist activities. According to him, “we have already dealt with Boko Haram militarily. We now have to deal with the ideology (of terror) and this is something that the entire world has to also deal with. The terrorists basically reject any engagement, simply preaching hate and murder. It is a new kind of threat, the ideology and motivation is what we-the global community- have to find a way to deal with.” A statement by his media Aide, Mr. Laolu Akande stated that while speaking earlier, Mr. Neuhaus, who had served as his country’s High Commissioner in Nigeria congratulated the Buhari administration observing that the presidency is “off to a good start.” He also praised the steps so far taken by the administration, some of which he said have not been “easy,” adding that Australia looked forward to doing more with the government and working “very closely with Nigeria”, in mining and investment.

Mama G drags son to court over Igbo tradition that allows him to claim his father's property

NOLLYWOOD actress Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G has reported dragged her son Chuka to court to stop him from claiming his father’s inheritance in line with the Igbo tradition that enables the first male offspring to do so.

According to new reports, trouble started when against his will, Mama G forced one lady named Ada on Chuka. Apparently, the Nollywood icon made Chuka dump his former girlfriend, Joy who Mama G said was not good for him.

When Mama G felt Ada was growing wings, she then called Chuka and asked him to end his relationship with her, leading to him standing up to his mother. This led to a tug of war between mother and son as Mama G was bent on getting her way.

Matter was said to become worse when Mama G realised that Ada was pregnant for Chuka and threatened to deal with her but both lovebirds defied her by going to court to marry. Mama G was then said to have taken the matter to some family members but lost the argument as they sided with her son.

Things then got sour when Chuka tried to claim his late father's property and the matter ended up in court. Apparently, Mama G lost the first round of the case in the customary court some weeks ago where she sought an injunction to deny Chuka from claiming some of his father’s properties as the first son.

Mama G’s husband died some years ago. He second and favourite son, Nduka is set to wed later this month and she has sworn to make it one of the biggest in tow

‘N120 billion Aviation intervention fund diverted into private pockets’

The Senate, on Monday, commenced investigation into how N120 billion government intervention fund released to the aviation industry in 2011, vanished.

The money was released by the Central Bank of Nigeria, as part of a N500 billion intervention fund, the acting director, development and finance at the bank, Mudashiru Olaitan said.

Other beneficiaries of the N500billion fund were the Ministry of Power, and the agency in charge of small and medium scale enterprises, Mr. Olaitan said.

These disclosures were made at a joint hearing of the Senate committees on aviation and anti-corruption, probing funds injected into the aviation sector, on Monday.

Mr. Olaitan said 10 airlines benefitted from the fund through loans with a tenure of 10 to15 years. The loan was monitored by the Bank of Industry.

Out of the 10 airlines, Mr. Olaitan said, two, namely Air Nigeria and Chanchangi Airline, had folded up. He mentioned Arik, Dana, Aero, Kabo, Overland, First Nation, Odengene as ones still in operation.

He said N81 billion was still outstanding, while the CBN had recovered N39 billion, the director said.

However, the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, said neither his ministry nor agencies under it had a record of the fund.

Based on available records,” Mr. Amaechi said, “the transport ministry and its agencies were not aware of the N120 billion fund.”

Corroborating Mr. Amaechi’s stance, Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the fund was diverted.

“This is something that went terribly wrong in the past,” said Mr. Sirika.

“What is unbelievable as discovered by the committee is that these monies were transferred out of the country; the monies were transferred into private accounts, transferred into foreign banks and used to buy private houses.”

Supporting that claim, John Nnorom, a former director of finance, Air Nigeria, said Jimoh Ibrahim, owner of the company, diverted a loan of N34.5 billion into his private account.

“The very moment the N34.5 billion intervention fund was paid into the airline’s account with United Bank for Africa (UBA), it disappeared into one of the private accounts of the owner without any amount from the fund injected into the airline, paving the way for its eventual collapse,” Mr. Nnorom submitted.

The chairman of Senate committee on aviation, Hope Uzodinma, said “The allegations are not just absurd but shocking. We are here to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of such allegations of misappropriation or diversion of the said funds.”

A member of the committee, Shaba Lafiagi, said it was possible that some banks that provided security for the loans only used the CBN intervention fund to recover what they were owed by the owners of the airlines.

The Senate committees directed that the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, heads of BoI, other relevant agencies and airlines must appear at the next hearing day.

Aisha Buhari in Bribery Scandal Not President Buhari's Wife - Ex-EFCC Boss, Lamorde Reveals

It has been revealed that the Aisha Buhari named in the bribery scandal involving a U.S Congressman, Williams Jefferson, is not the Aisha that is President Muhammadu Buhari's wife.
It was reported today that in a statement issued by Idowu Adelusi, the Ekiti state governor's chief press secretary, Governor Ayodele Fayose, on Monday, accused President Buhari of being corrupt and that Aisha Buhari was mentioned in court documents where she transferred $170,000 to the convicted American politician, Williams Jefferson.

In an exclusive interview with Premium Times, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has revealed that the Aisha Buhari named in the widely reported bribery scandal involving a U.S. Congressman, Williams Jefferson, is not the Aisha that is President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife.

The U.S. had at the time requested Nigeria to help it investigate the Nigerians named in the scandal, and Lamorde, as director of operation at the EFCC at the time, coordinated that investigation.

“I can tell you authoritatively that the Aisha Buhari named in that case is not President Buhari’s wife. It is another Aisha Buhari entirely.

“I was the director of operations at the EFCC at the time so I know about the case very well. I can tell you that it is not her (President Buhari’s wife). That much we established.

“It is unfair to link the President’s wife with that case. She was definitely not the one involved, and Fayose and other Nigerians should know this,” Lamorde said when contacted on Tuesday morning.

Lamorde who was EFCC chairman until he was removed in December 2015 by President Buhari, is currently on course at the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.

EFCC Sources Reveal Amount Of Billion In Governor Fayose’s Frozen Bank Account.

Sources at Nigeria's premier anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that a personal account at the Zenith Bank of Nigeria of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, was frozen in connection with over N1.2billion he took in 2014 from the disgraced National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to prosecute his re-election as governor.

Several of the operatives said the action came at the end of agency’s year-long investigation into the matter.

Our sources claim Mr. Fayose received huge sums of money from the office of the NSA that was meant for arms procurement, with which he meticulously bribed security officials and voters to get into the Ekiti governorship for the second time.

At least three security agencies which investigated the fraud found that the governor stole monies meant for national security, and deposited them into his personal account.  N500m was traced to the now-frozen Zenith Bank account.

The Nigerian Army referred some of the officers who took a bribe from Mr. Fayose to the EFCC after some of them were compulsorily retired from service.

It would be recalled that in 2014, SaharaReporters obtained an audio tape in which Mr. Fayose, the then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, and Osun State Senator, Iyiola Omisore, connived with army officers to harass and arrest members of the opposition party in order to facilitate Mr. Fayose's re-election.

While Mr. Obanikoro at first attempted to deny the authenticity of that tape, which had been discreetly made by Captain Sagir Koli, a patriotic army captain, Mr. Adesiyan confirmed it to be genuine.

After his election, Mr. Fayose deposited the monies into his personal account and that of his Spotless Hotel in Ekiti, venue of the infamous rigging meeting.

The EFCC said it is sure to prosecute those involved in the fraud in the coming days
